At CAMTech Uganda, we believe that life saving medical technologies should be affordable, accessible, and designed to meet the needs of low resource health systems. To make this possible, we support innovators through a structured Innovation Pipeline that takes real healthcare challenges and transforms them into practical solutions and sustainable enterprises. The pipeline guides innovators from the early stages of problem identification all the way to testing, scaling, and commercialisation.

Challenges Pipeline: Identifying Real Healthcare Problems

Innovation begins with understanding real needs. CAMTech Uganda brings together clinicians, engineers, students, researchers, and community members to identify pressing healthcare challenges in Uganda and across the region.

We gather challenges through
Themed Innovation Cafes, which provide a platform for open discussions about clinical problems.
Themed Hackathons, where diverse teams develop creative solutions in a short period.
Themed Calls for Challenges, which invite health facilities and partners to submit problem statements.

From these activities, we develop a Pipeline of Identified Challenges that innovators can work on.

Innovation Support: Developing High Impact Ideas

Once challenges are identified, we support innovators to grow their early concepts into high potential ideas. The Innovation Support Office offers training and mentorship to guide innovators in refining their solutions.

The CAMTech Accelerator Program Seed Grants to support early idea development

These efforts create a Pipeline of High Impact Ideas that are ready for deeper technical development.

Innovation Development: Building and Testing Solutions

This stage focuses on turning ideas into functional prototypes and tested technologies. CAMTech Uganda provides technical expertise, specialised prototyping facilities, research support, and clinical validation opportunities.

Product Requirement Document Workshops to define the product clearly
Prototyping Support from our engineering and design teams
Research Studies to gather evidence and evaluate performance
Intellectual Property Workshops and Registration to help innovators protect their work

This stage results in a Pipeline of Tested Innovations with Proof of Concept.

Commercialisation Support: Scaling Solutions for Impact

Innovations that demonstrate strong potential are supported to move into the market. CAMTech Uganda prepares innovators to build sustainable enterprises that can deliver medical technologies at scale.

Corporate Governance Trainings
Business Clinics with experienced mentors
